Finding Peace in a Better “We”

line heart with colored subdued lights around it

On September 21, 2015, “International Day of Peace,” a judge declared my divorce as final (the irony, right?). I wish I could say I was at peace on that day, but I felt a mixture of emotions: relief, sadness, heaviness, and a bit lost, as in “What now?”

After nearly a five-year process of ups and downs, my former husband and I chose to remarry. We first tried on our original wedding date of April 3; but because of the pandemic our venue was forced to close. We rescheduled in June, planning a small out-of-town ceremony, but canceled the day before due to a family emergency. Finally, we chose to quietly marry in our home on June 6, 2020.

I shared a piece of our saga at a storytelling event in New Smyrna Beach in February 2020, prior to remarrying. And today, I’m sharing the 10-minute video for the first time with you, my readers, as I explore the question, during this Valentine’s month, “To love? Or to leave?” I’ll introduce this theme with this video, and will circle back around to it in a few days. In the meantime, I welcome your thoughts in the “Leave a reply” section at the bottom of this page.

And may I suggest two earlier posts?
Welcome to February” (February 5, 2020) I compare February and valentines to Bonnie and Clyde. And I talk about interdependency.
Nine Signs of a Healthy Relationship” (June 14, 2019)

And check out the book series He, She, We, by Robert A. Johnson as he explores masculine psychology, feminine psychology, and the psychology of romantic love through mythical stories.
