Creative Nonfiction Writer
“I find the heartbeat, then I put words to it.”
—Debby Kerr-Henry
I am a creative nonfiction writer who is most passionate about human interest, wellness, and public awareness stories. I especially love to highlight people who exemplify all things momentous—where beauty flowers with the prickly.
Additionally, I enjoy writing informative pieces that increase pubic awareness about important issues, as I believe education empowers. For instance, Candy Lightner, founder of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), used her voice in the ’80s to create positive change regarding driving under the influence.

Currently, I am not accepting assignments as I fully focus on Project Unlimited, momentous living stories from within Tomoka Correctional Institution.
Testimonial: creative nonfiction
“I first met Debby when she hosted a block party. She said she had heard that I weave and would like to see my loom. Eventually she came over and we chatted for less than an hour. She noticed a T-shirt hanging up that said, ‘You Are Enough.’ I told her about times when I did not feel like I was enough. It was an easy, comfortable visit.
“As Debby was leaving, she asked if I would mind if she wrote my story. Confused, I said, ‘I didn’t know I had a story.’ But then I agreed. Within an hour Debby emailed a story. It amazed me that she had not taken notes, or asked a lot of questions, just observed. After reading the story, my son said, ‘Mom, people who have known you all your life do not know you like she did.’”
