I invite you inside
the walls of Tomoka Correctional Institution
in Daytona Beach, Florida.
And…
I invite you, if you so choose, to engage with the men of The Unlimited Gavel Club
by submitting your curious questions.
I will post responses for the purpose of
igniting dignified conversations,
welcoming reformation and transformation
of all—you, me, We.
Both Inside and Out.
As a sponsor of The Unlimited Gavel Club,
a Toastmasters-affiliate public speaking and leadership organization,
a club that has become my club,
I have discovered more of myself these days than in many of my bygone days.
Every week I experience compassion and pain, forgiveness and love,
as I witness men building up to R-I-S-E up,
above their incarcerated world,
by leading with Toastmasters’ core values:
Respect, Integrity, Service, and Excellence.
I hold the unfolding of this journey as a divine mystery, as I still don’t fully understand it.
Yet I believe in these 60 men who have come to be my brothers.
They lift me up, as I do them.
Project Unlimited
is not to excuse, justify, blame, or shame,
but rather, to more fully explain
through the exploring and storying
of words, ideas, thoughts, and questions
that

outside black-and-white comprehension,
yet, fall within
unlimited possibilities
that invite us

for the betterment of all—you, me, We.
Inside and Out.

Upcoming Debate:
September 26, 2025. 5:30-7:30 p.m. ET
The Unlimited men will be facing a collegiate team consisting of members from four universities (a first of its kind): Bethune-Cookman University, Hampton University, Howard University, and the infamous Wiley University, where the debate team from the 1930s put them on the map, resulting in the movie: “The Great Debaters” starring Denzel Washington. Save the date!

Our inaugural debate was a huge success!
The Unlimited Gavel Club triumphed over Toastmasters at Twelve on October 29, 2024, as they discussed Restorative Justice and whether or not it should replace the punitive justice system.
The Unlimited men then went on to debate the ladies at Gasdsen Correctional Facility on May 21, 2025, the first debate of its kind in Florida, where they discussed whether or not rich countries are obligated to help poor countries.
